Unit 1

This blog will consist of all of my work from my first unit in SUPA Writing 105! First is my imaginative writing piece; Hyperlink- Sarah O'Rawe's Imaginative Writing Next is one of my free writes that I am really proud of; Hyperlink- Sarah O'Rawe's Free Write Now this one is my college essay, I was super proud of it and I feel I took a different take to the college essay versus what everyone else does. Probably one of the writing pieces I am most proud of from unit 1; Hyperlink- Sarah O'Rawe's College Essay And this last piece, my unit one final project, I will admit this isn't my finest piece of work, but for the beginning of a great year I feel there is always room for improvement. And I plan on growing in my writing and improving always, it's the least I can do; Hyperlink- Sarah O'Rawe's Unit 1 Final Project I hope whoever comes across this post will find enjoyment in reading these, and honestly that is all I can hope for. Until my next blog....

10 Ways To Have A Better Conversation

So today for this post, I watched the Ted-talk, 10 Ways To Have A Better Conversation  by Celeste Headlee and I really enjoyed her main idea and how she expressed everything. Headlee expressed her topic in such a way that seemed nearly relatable to everyone, and her 10 rules seem realistic and do-able. At the very beginning of her talk, Headlee explains all the things that we already know about how to have conversations, but she explains that all of that is crap and must be forgotten. Like fully and truly. Listen. Rule number 9. The most important rule Headlee explains it as. She also quoted Stephen Covey with him saying "Most of us don't listen with the intent to understand. We li...

Mentor Blog

My mentor blog. For this blog I looked at three other blogs to kind of get the feel of how to do this. This is my first one though so lets hope it'll be okay. Every blog I read I will post the link down at the bottom so if any of them find interest to you, you'll have easy access! The first blog I read was 5E Inquiry Cycle Example(Distance Learning Version)  posted on October 2, 2020 written by Ramsey Musallam on his blog called, Cycles of Learning . Coming across Musallam's blog I found it interesting seeing some tricks and pointers for virtual learning as he is a full time science teacher. His 5E inquiry cycle example is a five step process of how he teaches his ZOOM classes. His 5E's consist of (in order of steps) engage, explore, explain, extend, and evaluate. I found his 5E's interesting as he took his own steps to work around virtual learning, and with the way the world looks, virtual will stay for a while so it's interesting to see different teachers ta...
